Council History

Choccolocco Council 1 was organized in 1921. It absorbed Northeastern Alabama Council 3 in 1933 and merged with Central Alabama Council 2 and Tennessee Valley Council 659 in 1998 to form Greater Alabama Council 1. Choccolocco Council received council number 1 because its state (Alabama) and headquarters city (Anniston) put it at the top of the list of councils.
