History

New CSP was reviewed at the December 1971 meeting and prospective designs were shown. The board approved the patch change to a design showing the area covered by the council. It depicts a map of VA and WV. On the left side is an apple, symbolizing the rich apple country covered by the council. On the right side is a cannon pointing right, representing the historical background of the area during the Civil War. It has gauze backing and no FDL or BSA. Council Vice President Robert Sutton would review the sketch with Scouters and obtain proof sketches. In late November, 1973, the CSP arrived and was distributed.
