History (none) Distinguishing between the four R1 varieties can be challenging. The R1b and R1d have a "bead" on the inside of the outer ring and the "P" on R1d tags to the bottom of the bow. The R1a and R1c do not have a "bead" on the inside of the outer ring and the R1c has a darker green ring but it can be challenging to distinguish without direct comparison. There has been some discussion about combining the 'a' variety and the 'c' variety as 'MVE' but the original Blue Book designations remain at this point.
