Both patches were part of an order of 400 flaps that were supposed to be identical to the S5 issues (same design but with a blue border). I was vice-chief of membership and in attendance at the lodge executive committee meeting when the box was opened. We were shocked to see red borders on the flaps. We discussed whether to accept the order or send it back, and the decision was made to accept the order. As there was only one order of these patches, I’ve always had heartburn over the idea that there were two varieties of the issue. Whatever differences exist were strictly due to imperfections in the manufacturing process. It’s also worth noting that some patches have half of the back covered in cloth.
